Safety Precautions to Follow After Breast Lift Surgery

Deciding to undergo breast lift surgery is a personal one, and you must decide if the benefits outweigh the potential risks or complications of the procedure. While rare, there are occasional complications. Choosing the right plastic surgeon will help reduce the risk of anything going wrong. Furthermore, taking necessary precautions after the surgery is critical. Doing so will lead to better results.

Breast Lift Recovery

Following your procedure, dressings and bandages will be applied to the various incisions. You will be asked to wear an elastic bandage or support bra to help minimize the swelling and support your breasts while they heal. It’s best to follow your surgeon’s orders.

Then, a small, thin tube may be temporarily inserted under the skin to help drain excess blood or fluids. Lastly, you’ll be provided with explicit instructions, including:

  • How to take care of your breasts afterward
  • Medications to apply or administer orally to aid in the recovery process
  • Specific concerns to watch for
  • When to follow up with your surgeon

If you follow all directions provided by your surgeon and take it easy for a time, you’ll likely experience profound recovery and health in a brief period. Of course, if you have questions or concerns, never hesitate to ask.

Questions to Ask

Some specific questions to ask regarding your breast lift recovery period include:

  • Where will I go after my surgery is complete?
  • What medication will I be prescribed?
  • Will I have dressings/bandages after the procedure? Do you remove them, or do I?
  • Are the stitches removed?
  • When may I resume normal activities or exercise?
  • When do I schedule a follow-up appointment?

These questions are important, so write them down if necessary.
